The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja Young Lawyers’ Forum’s (YLF) annual seminar comes up on Thursday 19th November, 2015 at the NBA Ikeja Bar Centre, by 9 a.m. Anchored on the theme, “Dynamism and Distinction in Legal Profession: Quest of a Young Lawyer”, the seminar will feature a galaxy of legal stars and speakers.
Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, George Oguntade would be the guest of honour while the cerebral and erudite Prof. Fidelis Oditah QC SAN and Prof. Taiwo Osipitan are the keynote speakers. Believe me, the lectures from this duo is worth more than all the crude and gas reserves in the Arctic.

Prof. Oditah is the genius of law with an excellent record of academic distinction and intellectual wizardry. From the University of Lagos, to the Nigerian Law School and Oxford. Prof. Oditah’s records has put a lie to the adage that lightening does not strike twice in one location. You cannot afford to miss out on what he has to say especially as it deals with how new wigs can attain distinction in practice.
Other speakers expected are J.S. Okutekpa SAN, Mrs. Titilola Akinlawon SAN, Paul Omoijiade Esq. and Dr. Wale Olawoyin. They would speak on various issues that concern young lawyers and share their experiences of how they coped with the same challenges young lawyers face and went as far as they could in the profession.

Admission is free. So mark it in your diary. I mean do all you can to be there. Call in sick at the office if possible. Write to the court and seek for an adjournment if you are in court that day. Just do everything to be there. I was at the YLF seminar last year and there were no dull moments. I can’t quantify the gains in monetary terms and how much my career benefitted from my attendance. It also afforded me a great opportunity to meet people and network.Last year’s seminar featured its own galaxy of stars among whom were Justice Buba of the Federal High Court, Mr. Norrison Quakers SAN, Prof. Lanre Fagbohun and Mrs. Funmi Falana. You can read the report of the YLF seminar last year here.
The executives of the YLF have not disappointed at all with the choice of speakers for this year’s seminar which is the 4th in the series since the event made its debut. The theme is also apt considering the current tides in the profession.
I am never gonna miss it for anything. Yea the Legal Fido would be there to cover the event! So don’t miss out. See you there!
