THE YOUNG ZAMBIAN LAWYER

Musangu Mwila Fundulu The Young Zambian Lawyer

I turned 18 years old on the first day of class though it was more on the introductory side. I was highly overwhelmed by our course outlines and the amount of information we students were expected to assimilate.Continue reading

WOMEN: we are as much flesh and blood as you are

“I write for those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified, because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves. We’ve been taught that silence would save us, but it won’t.– Andre LordeContinue reading

There is a definition that comes with the image of the woman and it means weak, incapable and sometimes unworthy’ the woman symbol has been so derogated to sleep side by side with disdain, contempt, disregard, worthless, and derisive statements”. The purpose of this entrepreneurship lecture is to teach young lawyers entrepreneurship activities they could engage in with little or no capital while not straying from the law environment. The things I will teach are things you can start up with very minimal or even no cash, your phones, laptops, internet connections and law books and it does not interfere with your regular job.Continue reading

So much has been said and written about the one year at the Nigerian Law School. However, the five years spent as a law undergraduate in the university are very critical years which go a long way to determine success at the Law School and beyond. Oludays(with apologies to my Learned Senior, Falz), whether regular calendar breaks or “strike breaks” are a very important time as a law undergraduate. Indeed, it’s the time to chill, travel, relax and maybe even relapse! Oludays, however, can be a time to rehearse for the future we cannot wait to get to.Below is a list of good ways a law student could spend his/her break:Continue reading

THE NBA NATIONAL ELECTIONS 2016; MEET THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES

AB 1

jk 1The president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) would be determined in the national elections scheduled to hold on 30th & 31st July, 2016. Other positions would also be fought for but then the office of the president as usual is the main focus of interest.

Two great and eminent gentlemen have thrown their hat into the race and have been traversing the length and breadth of the country to sell their candidacy to lawyers. With beautiful campaign websites, catchy social media ads and teams of zealous volunteers the campaigns I must confess have been a departure from the rancorous campaigns of the past.

Meet the Presidential Candidates

Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN (JK) is squaring out with Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud SAN (AB). Continue reading
